With her family by her side, Dolores M. Soll, 85, of San Luis Obispo died Sunday evening, November 27, 2016. She will be deeply missed by her son Dr. Mark Soll and wife Angela Soll; her daughter Lauren Soll and partner Joel Bloom; her granddaughters Kathryn Soll and Elizabeth Soll (Mark and Angela’s children); her sisters Audrey Harris, Marilyn McAtee, and Geraldine Jones; and her brother Richard Johnson. Her husband, Marvin Soll, died on May 21, 1998.

Born in Madelia, Minnesota, Dolores eventually made her way to Los Angeles, where, after a whirlwind romance, she married Marvin Soll in 1958. He was known to remark often that marrying Dolores was “the smartest thing I ever did.” Upon her retirement from a meritorious 30-year career with the Los Angeles Unified School District in 1994, they moved to SLO to be near their grandchildren. She continued to serve her community through work with the SLO County Office of the Superintendent, Friends of the Library, and American Association of University Women (AAUW). She played bridge frequently and enjoyed sharing the culinary pleasures, arts, and civic life of the Central Coast with her many friends and family members. She especially loved spending time with her granddaughters every chance she got.

The Soll family will host a Remembrance for family and friends at the Monday Club on Saturday, December 17, at 12:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Scholarship Fund of the SLO Branch of the AAUW, the AAUW-FOL In-School Reading Program, or the American Civil Liberties Union. Arrangements are under the direction of Los Osos Valley Mortuary
